In coordination with Cowley College's response to COVID-19, the Writing Center will only provide online services during the rest of the Spring 2020 semester. The Writing Center will remain "open" during all of its normal hours, just in a new way. We are excited to be able to offer a new range of services that will support all Cowley College students, no matter where they are at the moment! We are offering two services:
Virtual Face-to-Face Tutoring:
The Writing Center will provide live tutoring through Zoom, a videoconferencing tool. You can enter the Writing Center's open Zoom room at any time during our regular hours: Monday-Thursday 2-10 PM and Sunday 7-10 PM.
When you join the room, you can discuss your paper and get advice from all your favorite tutors using audio, video, and/or chat through your device. You can share your paper with the tutor as you work and still get the same type of tutoring you typically would in the Writing Center, just through the computer.
To access the Zoom meeting room, click on the link below, or put the meeting ID into zoom.us or the Zoom app. You may access Zoom from your computer, tablet, or phone. If other students are in the virtual room, please be patient until a tutor is available.

How to Join a Zoom Meeting
The Writing Center is also providing feedback on writing assignments through email. To receive feedback within 48 hours, email a Word document of your work to firstname.lastname@example.org with the following pieces of information:
- Your name, ID number, and the course
- The assignment directions and the due date
- An explanation of the specific areas of writing where you would like assistance, such as:
- Thesis statement
- Using sources
We will return a copy of your assignment with our comments to you within 48 hours. Make sure to give yourself enough time to get feedback before the due date. If you do not have 48 hours, please use the virtual tutoring in real-time instead.
Keep in mind that we are not an editing service and will not fix all your mistakes. Instead, we will provide advice and resources to help you revise the paper on your own, just like we would in a live tutoring session.
Feel free to email questions about either our services or writing in general to email@example.com as well.
It's a stressful time, so let us help ease your worries in at least one area: your writing!

No idea where to start on your essay? Confused by citations? Plagued by run-on sentences? The Writing Center has what you need!
At the Writing Center, students receive free support on any writing assignment for any class at any stage in the writing process.
The Writing Center can help students with any writing assignment for any class, whether it's a summary of a reading for History, a lab report for Biology, a personal response for Psychology, or a full essay for Composition. We can also provide support on resumes, cover letters, personal statements, and scholarship essays. Come by at any stage in the writing process from brainstorming ideas to editing the final draft.
The Writing Center provides many services. We offer traditional one-on-one writing tutoring with faculty and peer tutors. Just want to ask a couple questions? No problem! You can come work on your own in the computer lab and ask questions as you write. We also provide several group workshops throughout the semester on topics such as resumes, personal statements, and timed writing. Lastly, the Writing Center hosts writing groups and events, including the Finals Study Party at the end of each semester.
