Consistently conducting herself professionally during her more than 2 ½ years on the Cowley College Board of Trustees, Nancy Burger was recently honored with a plaque for her dedication and exemplary work.
Burger began serving on the Board in January 2018. There were numerous accomplishments during her tenure on the Board, such as the creation of the Sumner Campus in Wellington and the improvements made on the main campus in Arkansas City and other Cowley College Centers in Winfield, Mulvane, and Wichita.
Prior to serving on the Board, Burger spent 10 years as principal of Country View Elementary in Winfield, KS. She is the current administrative manager of the W.D. Short Oil Company, LLC.
Cowley College president Dr. Dennis C. Rittle said Mrs. Burger set the bar extremely high on what it means to be a trustee by example.
“Not only did Mrs. Burger support the College and the success of our students, faculty and staff with her time and talent but also with her influence and her resources,” Dr. Rittle said. “She was truly, ALL IN. She did not look to acquire power or recognition but sought to share her influence in order to develop solutions to very complex challenges. Thank you, Mrs. Burger. We will miss you.”
