Andreo named recipient of KCWE Leadership Inside the Field Award
Recognized for his work with Cowley faculty in securing Quality Matters certification for selected technical courses, Eddie Andreo, Cowley College’s Associate Vice President of Distance Learning and Site Management, was named the recipient of the 2017 Kansas Council for Workforce Education (KCWE) Leadership Inside the Field Award.
The award is designed to recognize individuals who have developed model programs, provided leadership, conducted research, or been involved in any other activity that advances the status and visibility of career and technical education within Kansas or beyond.
Andreo, who is a certified Quality Matters trainer and peer reviewer, was crucial in helping Cowley College become the first community college to earn Quality Matters approval for a fully online AAS program in Milling Science; obtained Quality Matters approval for online Non-Destructive Testing courses; mentors and supports all online CTE instructors at Cowley College; and assumes a vital role in technology and career prep at Cowley College.
According to Dr. Lenora Cook, Dean of Healthcare, Public Safety & Wellness at Johnson County Community College, Mr. Andreo was a deserving recipient for the Leadership Inside the Field Award.
“The Kansas Council of Workforce Education seeks out innovative individuals who have advanced the initiatives of workforce education,” Dr. Cook said. “In Mr. Andreo’s case, he was instrumental in establishing Cowley College as a leader in Quality Matters as well as being a champion for online career and technical education instruction.”
Andreo will be honored during the awards recognition session at the KCWE Fall Conference on October 27, 2017. The conference will be held at the Butler Community College Welcome Center in El Dorado, KS.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to have been nominated and selected for the 2017 Kansas Council for Workforce Education’s Leadership Inside the Field Award,” Andreo said. “I am forever grateful to Dr. (Harold) Arnett, Dr. (Dennis C.) Rittle, and the entire Cowley family for this recognition and their constant support.”
