Cowley College's Winfield Center plays host to Chamber Coffee
Cowley College’s Winfield Center had the opportunity to host the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce Chamber Coffee on Thursday, March 1.
The event is used to learn about local community events and businesses. Cowley College’s Winfield Center was happy to show off its recent renovations done to the facility and to discuss the programs they offer.
The Winfield Center is home to the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program and the Allied Health program. Along with the EMS program, Cowley offers Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic (MICT), and Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport (CCEMTP) programs.
The Allied Health programs include CNA/CMA, pre-nursing, phlebotomy, long term adult care, medical transcription, and pre-athletic training.
Chris Cannon, Health and Human Services Department Chair/EMS program director, spoke at the Chamber Coffee and mentioned the success of the programs at the Winfield Center.
“We want to build programs for people that live in the community,” Cannon said. “It is important for kids that grow up and go to school here to have an avenue for them to be able to stay in the community.”
Following Cannon’s presentation, he provided those in attendance with a tour of the facility.
The EMS and Allied Health programs are dedicated to developing competent, caring and thinking healthcare providers through the use of effective learning strategies that graduate qualified professionals in a mutually rewarding atmosphere.
