Employees place emphasis on continued enrollment growth
Through a recent survey, Cowley College employees said increasing the enrollment of new students and retaining more of the college’s current students are the top priorities.
When the same survey was conducted two years ago, improving employee morale was then the top priority. However, improving employee morale was well behind the top-two priorities listed this time around.
“This shows we have applied the data suggested and have seen positive movement in the level of satisfaction of the employees in their work,” Cowley College president Dr. Dennis C. Rittle said. “We still want to keep enhancing employee morale squarely on the radar, but it is not at the same level of intensity as two years ago.”
Increasing the enrollment of new students came in at 28 percent, while 23 percent of employees said retaining more of the current students was their top priority. Improving employee morale and improving the quality of existing academic programs checked in at 17 and 12 percent, respectively.
“We will continue to emphasize enrollment growth, promote retention of students, and continue to work on morale and the quality of programs we offer,” Dr. Rittle said.
Other encouraging results from the survey was overall employee satisfaction is considered normal to schools similar in size across the country at 3.71, which is a .62 increase from the previous survey.
The reputation of the institution continues to improve as shown by the 1.19 increase, and the institution consistently follows clear processes for selecting new employees was up +1.01.
Other areas that showed increased employee satisfaction were, the college’s efforts to improve the quality are paying off at the institution; administrators share information regularly with faculty and staff; and the institution makes sufficient budgetary resources available to achieve important objectives.
“We are seeing very encouraging progress across the entire institution,” Dr. Rittle said.
