The National Library of Medicine and the National Center for Biotechnology Information have cooperatively produced PubMed, Internet Grateful Med, and Medlineplus. All three databases provide high quality health care information from the world's largest library, the National Library of Medicine.
PubMed provides access to Medline and PreMedline. Medline provides coverage from over 3,900 biomedical journals. The journals cover the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. PreMedline adds, on a daily basis, citations before they are fully indexed into the Medline database.
PubMed also provides an entry to Entrez, the NCBI molecular biology databases.
Internet Grateful Med provides access to Medline, as well as other medical databases such as HealthStar, Aidsline, and others. The search screen provides access to the MeSH headings. Pull down menus allows for limiting searches by language, age groups, etc.
Medlineplus is a consumer health database, providing access to extensive information about specific diseases and providing links to consumer health information from the National Institutes of Health, dictionaries, lists of hospitals and physicians.
