Financial Aid Service Specialist

Location: Arkansas City Main Campus

Job Summary:
The Financial Aid Service Specialist will perform assigned duties to assist students with the navigation of the financial aid process, receive all financial aid calls and assist in improving financial aid processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide guidance to students through all stages of the financial aid process using the PowerFAID and EX systems.
  • Answer and process all financial aid calls.
  • Maintain knowledge of billing and student accounts.
  • Assist admissions staff and students with financial aid counseling, as needed.
  • Manage and respond to financial aid e-mails.
  • Mitigate financial aid problems for student.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve the financial aid process for students.
  • Maintain knowledge of all Cowley college programs and resources.
  • Manage and maintain accurate academic records and information in the Jenzabar and PowerFAID systems.
  • Determine student eligibility for federal and non-federal aid.
  • Evaluate file status and authorize use of financial aid for charging of textbooks.
  • Provide counseling to students regarding financial aid opportunities and responsibilities, both federal and institutional, and the status of their individual file.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of all title IV Federal Financial aid programs and compliance regulations for those programs administered at Cowley College.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of institutional scholarship opportunities and requirements.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to students and other stakeholders.
  • Provides counseling at high school FAFSA completion nights.
  • Comply with all Department of Education regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with employees, vendors and/or any other representatives of external organization.
  • Comply with all College policies and procedures
  • Assist the Financial Aid Director, Enrollment Management, and Admissions team as needed.

Dorm Manager/Intramural Coordinator

Location: Arkansas City Main Campus

Status: Full-Time

Department: Housing/Student Life

Position Reports To: Director of Housing/ Director of Student Life

Position Closes: March 11, 2018

Job Summary:

The Dorm Manager/Intramural Coordinator is a live-in position that works independently, under general supervision, to oversee co-ed residents in a Cowley College Residential dormitory and assists in the development and implementation of all residential and community activities. In addition, this position will serve as the coordinator for intramural and recreational programs, and is responsible for the management, oversight, and policy development of the intramural programs

Position Duties:

Dorm Manager (50%)

  • Maintain Dorm manager office hours, Monday-Friday from 1pm to 4pm.
  • Act as a positive role model and will work directly with dormitory students in the development and enforcement of rules to assure proper student conduct and care of facilities.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of new Resident Assistants (RA). Assist with RA training program each semester.
  • Develop a semester dorm activity schedule and coordinate communication of events with Resident Assistants, Dorm Managers, Director of Student Life and the Director of Housing.
    • Coordinate Christmas party.
    • 1-2 larger events per semester.
    • Create and submit activities schedule for semester at least 2 weeks prior to start of semester.
    • Manage budget for activities.
    • Communicate and Market each activity throughout campus.
  • Supervise, direct, develop, mentor, select, train and evaluate 2-3 Resident Assistants, connecting student growth and development to specific learning outcomes.
    • Schedule weekly meetings with RA, providing feedback to Director of Housing.
  • Manage all room changes. Check in/out students during move-in/move-out days and throughout the semester. Inspect for damage during check-out.
  • Maintain Rooming Roster with 100% accuracy.
  • Maintain all housing reports.
  • Conduct regular inspections for the appearance, operation, safety and security of the dormitories and report all issues to the Director of Housing.
    • Must conduct inspections at least twice a semester.
    • Follow-up 24 hours after a concern is found.
  • Assist with all safety drills, room and drug inspections.
  • Attend weekly manager meetings.
  • On-call rotation for the 5 campus dormitories.
  • Follow-up on all student concerns.
  • Identify and refer students to College services, including but not limited to, Student Life, Counselor, Director of Health Services and Tutoring.
  • Dorm Student package processing and distribution. Process and deliver student mail for dormitory.

Intramural Coordinator (50%)

  • Maintain Intramural office hours, Monday-Friday 9am to 12pm.
  • Develop an Intramural plan for each semester. Plan to be submitted to Director of Student Life one month prior to semester.
  • Create and coordinate events in conjunction with current events.
  • Administer Intramural sports program to include staffing, planning and development of 2-3 special events and/or sports leagues weekly.
  • Coordinate the marketing and promotional efforts for Intramural programs, including, but not limited to:
    • Promote Intramurals during special events, including but not limited to; Club Church Fair, Freshman Orientation Day and Senior Day.
    • Facebook page.
    • Coordinate with student newspaper to advertise.
    • Flyers around dorms and campus.
  • Hire, train and supervise intramural student staff and scholarship students while contributing to their leadership and personal development.
  • Ensure that all student waivers are signed and on file for every student participating in Intramural events.
  • Represent the Intramurals program at all Student Senate meetings.
  • Active committee member of the CARE team.
  • Assist the Director of Student Life with additional student life activities.

SQL Server Administrator

Location: Arkansas City Main Campus

Department: Information Technology

Position Reports To: VP Information Technology

Status: Full Time/Salary Exempt

Job Summary:

The SQL Server Administrator will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems, and ensure availability and consistent performance of all SQL systems. This is a “hands-on” position requiring strong technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the SQL Server infrastructure, ensuring security, health and performance of the systems. Core duties will be administration of the Jenzabar EX student information system, including upgrades and customer support. Must be capable of working independently, as part of a technical team and in consultation with customers.

The person in this role must have the ability to maintain and improve existing databases, and develop and create new database systems while working to optimize data flow between different database systems and across the organization. You will work with a wide variety of users to understand current functional business processes and suggest and implement reports, queries, and new systems to improve and enhance those processes. You will also coordinate with our existing software vendors to ensure uptime and performance across our systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage SQL Server and associated databases from installation to mission-critical production systems.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Apply industry standard techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
  • Work with Module Managers to identify system needs and to ensure operational needs are being met.
  • Serve as a liaison between Module Managers and Jenzabar for problem solving and resolution.
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution when necessary.
  • Automate and improve regular processes, then track issues and document changes
  • Develop complex queries and create reports.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Share expertise by providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other team members.
  • On-call troubleshooting and support for SQL Server maintenance and other network-related service outages
  • Monitor, maintain and enhance existing database systems and applications
  • Perform regular database maintenance.
  • Ensure integrity, availability, security and performance of existing database systems.
  • Ensure fast query responses and improved user experience.
  • Monitor database performance, evaluating and resolving processing and programming problems or work with vendors to do the same.
  • Develop and run data views, reports and queries based on user and departmental needs.
  • Identify database systems and application requirements by consulting with end users, analyzing existing applications, reports, programming and operations.
  • Develop understanding of data use and flow throughout the organization.
  • Help coordinate interfaces and integrations between database systems and applications.
  • Evaluate existing database systems and designs and implements proposed database systems.
  • Work with application vendors to ensure best practices for their products are followed and to improve applications and performance.
  • Create documentation of existing databases and integrations including data standards, definitions, and procedures.
  • Serve as the escalation point for IT support team with user issues in functional areas.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience with database administration
  • Must have extensive experience in Microsoft SQL server administration
  • Familiarity with data manipulation languages and principles of database design
  • Ability to write queries and reports in MS SQL and InfoMaker
  • Ability to create documentation independently
  • Proven skills and experience with database performance tuning
  • Adept at database process improvement and problem solving
  • Ability to present technical information to nontechnical users
  • Ability to listen to nontechnical users and understand and analyze business processes and reports
  • Customer service oriented with a problem solving attitude
  • Highly motivated, a self-starter, creative, able to work independently and as part of a team, possess a strong attention to detail and have a “can do” attitude
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and assistance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business or related field required

Bus Driver

Location: Arkansas City Main Campus

Status: Full-time, 9-month position

Close Date: January 7, 2018

The Bus Driver provides bus and/or passenger van transportation services for College students, employees, Golden Tigers and visitors, ensuring passenger safety. In addition, the bus driver is also responsible for the care and upkeep of the College bus and vehicle fleet. This is a 9-month position.

Position Duties:

  • Drives the College-owned bus and passenger vans, providing safe and efficient transportation to the College community and its visitors.
  • Safely transport students and staff to events in a passenger bus or similar type vehicle.
  • Ensure that all passengers adhere to all passenger safety guidelines and expectations while the vehicle is in operation.
  • Operate vehicle in a safe manner and take all precautions necessary to ensure the safety of passengers. Exhibit sound judgment and follow safe driving standards.
  • Ensure maintenance is completed, as needed, on all vehicles.
  • Ensure College vehicles meet applicable safety regulations.
  • Clean and maintain interior and exterior of all College vehicles.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed; makes timely reports of accidents, incidents and unusual occurrences.
  • Assist with confidential document disposal and long-term file storage.
  • Maintain MSDS online system.
  • Maintain College inventory.
  • Maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with employees, vendors and/or any other representatives of external organization.
  • Assist grounds, custodial and other departments as necessary during times of driving inactivity.
  • Comply with all College policies and procedures
  • Assist the Lead Bus Driver and Administrative Assistant to the Executive Vice President of Business Services by performing other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to drive and maintain all fleet vehicles.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow traffic signs. A working knowledge of all road signs and other common driving practices, including the ability to observe set speed limits at all times.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of (1) one year bus driving experience, or other comparable driving experience.
  • Must have an exemplary driving record. No DUI conviction in past 7 years.


Supervisory Requirements: None.

Physical Requirements:
Must pass a yearly DOT physical. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate the bus, conduct pre-trip inspections, and clean the bus. Must be able to physically move through the bus. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; ability to move freely around the campus and outreach centers; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to bend, stoop, squat, push, climb and reach and grasp as required to perform responsibilities; ability to drive motor vehicle; and ability to work on the computer for long periods of time.

Work Environment:
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. Risk involved with travel on main highway, side streets and rural roads during business travel, including evenings and weekends.

Public Safety Officer-Reserve — Part-Time Opportunity

Location: Arkansas City Main Campus

Cowley College is seeking a reserve Public Safety Officer. Reserves are needed to ‘fill in’ during required shifts. This is a part-time position.

The Public Safety Officer promotes lawful behavior and protects the welfare of students, faculty, staff, and visitors as a uniformed presence on campus. This position performs foot and vehicle patrols of the College campus and outreach centers to monitor behavior, secure buildings and property, investigate disturbances, maintain order during events and enforce regulations. In addition, this position monitors the physical safety of campus and center buildings by locking and unlocking doors, patrolling and monitoring using surveillance systems, and reporting suspicious behavior. During emergency situations, the officer responds to the scene, provides first aid, and alerts additional police or emergency personnel as appropriate. Other duties may include monitoring alarm systems and responding to alerts and serving as crowd control at special events.

Required Education/Training Background:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related degree, preferred.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
  • Taser Certification.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of security and/or public safety experience. Law enforcement certification, preferred.
  • Current valid driver’s license with favorable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to complete MMPI Psychological Evaluation on file (within most recent 24 months).
