Steel Magnolias

by Robert Harling

Directed by Cara Kem and John Dylon Rohr

“A hilarious celebration of friendships, life, and sisterhood.”

Longtime friends in the small town of Chinquapin, Louisiana fill Truvy’s hair salon with laughter, gossip, and tears. Truvy’s new assistant Annelle, sociable M’Lynn, and her pretty daughter bride-to-be Shelby, as well as the hysterical bickering Ouiser and Clairee, support each other with love, laughter and beauty products. As hair is dried, dyed, and styled, women’s lives unfold and show the meaning of true friendship.

Inspired the 1989 movie of the same name.

Warning: There will be a gun used as a prop on stage (will not fire). There will be loud, sudden noises used in this production from off-stage gun shots.

Pygmalion: a Romance in Five Acts

by George Bernard Shaw

Robert Brown Theater

April 26, 27, 28 @ 730pm

Pygmalion both delighted and scandalized its first audiences in 1914. A brilliantly witty reworking of the classical tale of the sculptor Pygmalion, who falls in love with his perfect female statue, it is also a barbed attack on the British class system and a statement of Shaw's feminist views. In Shaw's hands, the phoneticist Henry Higgins is the Pygmalion figure who believes he can transform Eliza Doolittle, a cockney flower girl, into a duchess at ease in polite society. The one thing he overlooks is that his 'creation' has a mind of her own.

Come see this classic tale that inspired the musical My Fair Lady.
