As the adviser for The Cowley Press and sponsor of the Media Club, Meg Smith enjoys working with her students and watching them grow as writers, photographers, editors and people.

She has been a journalism instructor / adviser and editor in Kansas and Washington State. Before coming to Cowley in 2007, Meg Smith taught at Emporia State University, University of Washington and Pierce Community College in Lakewood, WA.

Smith’s students have won numerous student newspaper awards both in Kansas and Washington state. Her newspaper students have moved on to careers in newspaper, public relations and web editing among others.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal studies from the University of Washington in Tacoma, Wa. and a Masters of educational technology from Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA.
