Commencement ceremonies at Cowley College postponed until December 13

Due to the CDC guidelines on limiting sizes of groups due to the situation surrounding the coronavirus, Cowley College has decided to postpone its Commencement ceremonies. Originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 2 the Commencement ceremonies have been moved to Sunday, December 13 inside the Robert Brown Theatre. The time for the ceremony has yet to be determined. read more

Based on mandates by local, state and federal health officials prohibiting gatherings of more than 10 individuals, the monthly Cowley College Board of Trustees meeting was live streamed Friday in the McAtee Dining Center to comply with social distancing guidelines. read more

Ridgnal, Bol earn All-Region honors

Helping the nationally-ranked Cowley College men’s basketball team earn its first bid to the NJCAA National Tournament in more than 60 years, freshman Dalen Ridgnal and sophomore Deng Bol were recognized for their outstanding seasons by being named All-Region VI selections. read more

On Thursday, March 12, three Cowley students, Priscilla Bianchini, Jeannie Qualls and Hattie Staley, were honored in Topeka for their outstanding accomplishments at the annual Kansas All-State Academic Team luncheon sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa and the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees. read more

The Phi Theta Kappa Kansas-Nebraska regional convention was held March 6-8 at the Hilton Double Tree in Lawrence, Kansas. Attending from Cowley College Alpha Gamma Upsilon were president Priscilla Bianchini and vice president Childress Rittle. Running its winning streak to five games in a row, the Cowley College softball team opened conference play with a doubleheader sweep of Cloud County Thursday in Arkansas City. The Lady Tigers opened with a 9-6 win of game one before winning game two in extra innings by a score of 14-13. read more

Tiger basketball team headed to national tournament for first time since 1957

The wait is over! After failing to qualify for the NJCAA Division I National Tournament since the 1956-57 season, the Cowley College men’s basketball team was one of eight teams selected to fill out the 24-team field during a selection show on Monday. Tiger fans, as well as the coaches and players, were on hand for a watch party Monday in the Patrick J. McAtee Dining Center as Cowley heard their name called. read more

Led by sophomore Sasha Elizondo earning All-American honors in four events, the Cowley College women’s track and field team placed 10th at the NJCAA National Indoor Championship meet held March 6-7 at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. read more

Ottis Peeler becomes Cowley’s first-ever wrestling national champion

Led by sophomore Ottis Peeler finishing as the national champion in the 184-pound weight class, the Cowley College wrestling team placed 15th out of 50 schools at the NJCAA National Championships held March 6-7 in Council Bluffs, IA. Clackamas Community College (OR) took home the team title. read more

Tigers salvage final game of series against Kansas City

Coming off a pair of losses at Kansas City Kansas Community College Thursday in its first games of conference play, the No. 6-ranked Cowley College baseball team split the final two games of the four-game series played Saturday in Arkansas City. Cowley suffered a second, one-run defeat (9-8) in Saturday’s opener, before run-ruling the Blue Devils 18-1 in the final game of the series. read more

Lady Tiger softball improves to 6-0 at home

After a tough start to the season, the Cowley College softball team is starting to find their footing. Facing Connors State for the second time in a week, the Lady Tigers swept a home doubleheader against the Cowgirls Friday in Arkansas City. Cowley won the first game 9-4 before run-ruling Connors State 16-3 in game two. read more

Math & Science Club raises over $150 during Pi Day event

Cowley College students, faculty, and staff voted to see which Cowley employee would receive a pie in the face. Voting was done through purchasing pie and/or buying additional tickets at various department offices. The purchase of any slice of pie came with one free vote, and additional voting tickets could be purchased at 4 for $1. read more

Tiger tennis team picks up easy home win

With four matches against top-10 teams looming, the No. 4-ranked Cowley College men's tennis team made easy work of the Tabor College JV in its first home match of the season played Tuesday in Arkansas City. The Tigers won all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches to come away with the 8-1 victory. read more

Gimenez signs to play soccer at University of North Georgia

One of the top soccer players in the Jayhawk Conference as a freshman, Cowley College's Santiago Gimenez missed his sophomore season after suffering an injury. The talented redshirt will have three years of eligibility remaining to use while playing for NCAA Division II University of North Georgia located in Dahlonega, GA as Gimenez signed with the Nighthawks on Wednesday. read more
