The Cowley College Board of Trustees will gather for a special meeting on Monday, June 1, 2020

The Cowley College Board of Trustees will gather for a special meeting on Monday, June 1, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. in the Wright Room of the Brown Center, 215 S. 2nd Street, Arkansas City, KS. The only AGENDA item is an executive session to discuss non-elected personnel for one hour, with no action to follow.

Per the Board Chair request, this meeting will not be live streamed; however, this meeting will be held in the spacious Wright Room in order to safely accommodate community access while maintaining adequate social distancing. To promote a community of wellness and safety, all Cowley College campus guests must complete the COVID-19 questionnaire before entry into any College facility per the College’s protocols, which are based on guidance by our local, state, and national health agencies in order to reduce the risk of exposure for our students, employees and community members. The questionnaire can be found on the College website, click here. Should a campus guest respond “yes” to any of the questions on the screening questionnaire, entry into a College facility will be prohibited. Tiger men’s soccer team reloads by signing more than 20 athletes

Coming off one of the most successful seasons in the history of the Cowley College men’s soccer program, Cowley College head coach Ruy Vaz recently announced the signing of more than 20 athletes to the squad. read more

Juden honored for his service to Cowley College

Prior to becoming a distinguished member and two-time Chairman of the Cowley College Board of Trustees, Bob Juden first came to Cowley College as a student and later began employment at the school. After recently finishing up serving more than seven years on the Board, Juden was honored with a plaque for his dedication and exemplary work while on the Board of Trustees. read more

New scoreboard completes renovations at Ed Hargrove Field

With several renovations and upgrades made to Cowley College’s Ed Hargrove Softball Field over the past few years, the final touches were put on the facility with a state-of-the-art scoreboard having been recently installed. read more

Thirteen Tiger baseball players sign with four-year schools

Demonstrating the tremendous talent on its roster, the Cowley College baseball team had 12 sophomores and one redshirt freshman recently sign letters of intent to continue their playing careers with four-year schools. read more

Tiger men’s tennis team signs pair of players from Ark City and another from Brazil

Continuing to add talent to a squad that was ranked in the top-five nationally before having the 2020 season cut short, the Cowley College men’s tennis team recently signed a pair of Arkansas City High School athletes along with Lucas Amorim de Lima from Curitiba, Brazil. read more

Arnett takes part in first meeting as Board Chair

Dr. Harold W. Arnett presided over his first meeting as Board Chair during the monthly Cowley College Board of Trustees meeting held Monday in the Earle N. Wright Community Room. The meeting was held in the spacious Wright Room in order to safely increase community access with an approximate gathering limitation of 40 people while maintaining adequate social distancing. Student from Hawaii excelling in Cowley’s online NDT program

Looking to add to his resume, Derek Barbadillo stumbled upon Cowley College’s online Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) program. The Hawaii resident made the decision to enroll in the program and was recently on the College’s main campus in Arkansas City to complete his studies. read more

The regular monthly meeting of the Cowley College Board of Trustees will be conducted on Monday, May 18, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. in the Wright Room of the Brown Center, 215 S. 2nd Street, Arkansas City, KS. Based on guidance by local, state and federal health officials discouraging gatherings of more than 10 people unless adequate social distancing is practiced, the College will be live streaming the Board meeting to protect the health and safety of Trustees, employees and the public. Paramedic students return to the classroom

Cowley College paramedic students were able to return to the classroom May 11 at the Allied Health Center in Winfield, KS. The students in the 12 month paramedic program are on track to finish in December while following social distancing guidelines in the classroom. read more

Bol signs to play basketball at Jackson State

Parlaying a solid two-year playing career as a member of the Cowley College men’s basketball team, Deng Bol recently signed a letter of intent to continue playing basketball at NCAA Division I Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. read more

Students perform virtual choir project

The Cowley Concert Choir members had been working toward their spring concert when COVID-19 put a halt on their performance. Wanting to find a way to feature the hard work they had done up to this point, vocal music director Lindsay Allen decided to have the Concert Choir perform a virtual choir concert. read more

Ford Motor Company donates engines to Cowley automotive programs

Former Cowley College employee Marcus Hicks, who is now a Ford Regional Technical Talent Placement Specialist, recently shared the exciting news that the Ford Motor Company is donating two diesel engines to the Cowley College automotive Program. read more

Tiger tennis players named ITA All-Americans

Recognized for their tremendous success on the court after a shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cowley College women's tennis players Laura Quezada and Georgina Kaindoah, along with Tiger men's tennis player Jack Clements, were recently named Intercollegiate Tennis Association NJCAA All-Americans. read more

Cowley College writers recorded a virtual Writers’ Corner on Friday, May 1 to release to the Cowley community and others at the beginning of finals week since their regularly scheduled Writers’ Corner was cancelled due to COVID-19. read more

Partnership between Cowley College and Newman University in full swing

The partnership between Cowley College and Newman University for the Accelerated Elementary Education Bachelor of Science has been a seamless process since the schools signed the initial partnership agreement in August with the intention of Cowley College becoming an instructional site for Newman University’s Education coursework. read more

PTK students attend virtual international convention

Phi Theta Kappa students recently attended the first ever virtual international convention, Catalyst, on April 16-17. The international convention was originally going to be held outside Dallas, Texas in early April but had to be rescheduled as a virtual event due to COVID-19. Both of Cowley College’s Alpha Gamma Upsilon chapter officers, Priscilla Bianchini (pictured) and Childress Rittle, as well as advisor Jennifer Rupp, attended the convention online. read more

The Cowley College volleyball program has added Texas standout, Gracie Story, from Holliday, Texas to the roster beginning in the fall of 2020. read more

Golden Tigers program to forego summer classes

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has forced Cowley College to move away from its traditional face to face classes, the decision has been made to cancel summer classes in the Golden Tigers program. read more
