Russian cultural evening held at Cowley College

Cowley College hosted a Russian cultural evening Wednesday, February 12 on the college’s main campus in Arkansas City. The event was organized by Mark Kiselev, who is attending Cowley College as part of the YEAR (Year of Exchange in America for Russians) program. read more

Cervantes attends presentation at Tulsa Historical Society

Candacy Taylor, author of Overground Railroad: The Greenbook and the Roots of Black Travel in America, offered a presentation at the Tulsa Historical Society earlier this month. Marlys Cervantes, Cowley College's Department Chair of Humanities and Communication attended the event, planning to use some of the information in literature and writing classes. read more

Butler snaps Tigers’ 12-game winning streak, 105-94

Held under 100 points for only the sixth time this season, the No. 5-ranked Cowley College men’s basketball team suffered a 105-94 loss at Butler Community College Wednesday in El Dorado, KS. The loss snapped the Tigers’ 12-game winning streak as they had not lost since January 4. read more

Breaking the century mark in a 109-86 home win over Butler Community College on January 29, the Cowley College women’s basketball team could not find the same success shooting the basketball in a 81-65 loss at Butler Wednesday in El Dorado, KS. read more

Cowley softball sweeps home-opening doubleheader

There’s no place like home! After a challenging opening-season road trip, the Cowley College softball team returned home to sweep a doubleheader against Metropolitan Community College Tuesday in Arkansas City. The Lady Tigers slipped past the Lady Wolves 5-4 in game one before run-ruling Metropolitan 14-0 in game two. read more

After two successful seasons as a member of the Cowley College men's soccer team, sophomore Aleksa Dorovic recently signed a letter of intent to continue playing soccer at Louisiana State University-Shreveport. read more

Tigers celebrate first Jayhawk East title since 2009-2010 season

The No. 6-ranked Cowley College men’s basketball team got a chance to cut down the nets after capturing its first Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division title in a decade as the Tigers scored 77 second-half points to race past Allen Community College 123-98 Saturday at W.S. Newman-Cowley Meet and Greet this Wednesday, Feb 19, 2020

Representatives with the College of Education of Newman University will be on campus to answer questions about the opportunity to earn the Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education at two of the Cowley campuses - Main Campus in Arkansas City and the Sumner Campus in Wellington. Enrollment will begin soon for the fall semester!

This expanded partnership allows Cowley students to earn the Associate of Arts Degree then transfer to Newman to complete the coursework here in the local area. Once an Associate degree is complete, the Newman coursework is schedule at an accelerate pace allowing students to complete classes in 12 months followed by 4 months of student teaching. This is the most accelerated path for those earning their first bachelor degree in education. Individuals who hold an Associate of Arts or Science OR a bachelor degree in any subject are encouraged to learn how they can get started on this accelerated path to becoming a fully licensed teacher beginning this fall! A Meet and Greet event is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb 19, 2020 from 3:30 - 5:00 in the Cowley Education Center located at 215 W Chestnut. CC Singers brighten people’s day

Making it a memorable Valentine’s Day for numerous individuals in Arkansas City and Winfield, the Cowley College singers performed singing Valengrams throughout the County on Friday and raised money to help with future performances. read more

Hughes named KJCCC Division II Softball Player of the Week

Paige Hughes got her sophomore season off to a strong start by going 7-for-13 with five runs batted in and four runs scored in the Lady Tigers' four games played at the Coyote Chill-Out in Weatherford, TX. The outfielder had a hit in all four games, while also walking three times and stealing four bases. read more

Records continue to fall in Tigers 143-110 win at Cloud

Forty eight hours after breaking a record that had stood for 40 years, the No. 6-ranked Cowley College men's basketball team set the school record for points in a game for the second game in a row. The Tigers scored a school record 78 second half points en route to a 143-110 win at Cloud County Monday in Concordia, KS. read more

Trailing by seven points (32-25) at halftime of its game at Cloud County on Monday, the Cowley College women's basketball team rallied for a 67-61 win. Seanna Boltz's eighth and final three pointer of the game broke a 61-61 tie with 37 seconds left and Cowley held on for the win. read more

Facing an NCAA Division II school for the second match in a row, the No. 5-ranked Cowley College women's tennis team did not drop a match in a 9-0 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The No. 4-ranked Tiger men were also victorious by a score of 5-4 Saturday in Durant, OK. read more

Softball opens season in Texas

The Cowley College softball team opened the spring season by playing four games Friday and Saturday in Weatherford, TX. The Lady Tigers defeated Weatherford 7-3 in its opening game on Friday before losing 13-10 to Northeast Texas later in the day. On Saturday, Navarro run-ruled Cowley 12-3 in five innings before North Central Texas defeated the Lady Tigers 10-5 in the final game of the weekend. read more

Student shares heartwarming support from Cowley basketball players

My name is Xerius La’Trē Johnson and this is my story. I was Born in Las Vegas, NV, January 23rd, 2002. My dad (who was an abusive, drug and alcohol addict) left before I was born and I grew up with my mom, Vanessa Qualls and my brother, Lykos Qualls. I moved all around the country and finally landed in Kansas in 2013 and began fifth grade at Central Burden Elementary School. I will be graduating in May. read more

Cowley College and Wichita State University signed a 2+2 articulation agreement that will provide Biomedical Engineering students with the opportunity to complete their first two years at Cowley and seamlessly transfer their credits into WSU's Biomedical Engineering degree. read more

The Cowley College Housing department went to IXL Elementary in Arkansas City on Monday to help the kindergarten classes celebrate 100 days of school. The housing staff was paired up with students and read together. As a class they were trying to read 100 books in one hour. read more
